VXi has recruited an outstanding Board of Directors. Dr. Vesely and Mr. Blankenship have board seats, with Mr. Blankenship being the Chairman. Other Board members are:

James A. Bowman, former CEO of Tissue Genetics and Encision.

James Bowman has spent 25 years in the medical device industry in various director and management positions with both large and emerging companies. Most recently, Jim has been the start-up Chief Executive Officer of Tissue Genetics Inc., a predictive medicine company with patented technology for diagnosing genetic diseases. Tissue Genetics has launched unique, disruptive technology that will create a new paradigm in identifying and treating hereditary diseases. Prior to that, Jim was the President & CEO of Encision Inc., a medical device company focused on advancing safety and efficacy in minimally-invasive surgery. Mr. Bowman led this start-up to 300% revenue increases, profitability, positive cash flow and wide industry endorsements. In his 4 years as CEO and Director, Mr. Bowman led Encision to a 500% market cap increase and the listing of its securities on the American Stock Exchange. Jim has a degree in Bio-Medical Engineering with Marquette University and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. He is an active member and participant in the Health Industry Alumni Association at Harvard Business School. TOP

Floyd Loop, MD, former CEO of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Loop is a distinguished and world-recognized cardiothoracic surgeon, and former CEO of The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He received his M.D. degree from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1962 and did his postgraduate surgical training at The George Washington University; with the U.S. Air Force at Andrews Air Force base; and at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He joined the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic in 1970, was named Chairman of the Department in 1975, and appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1989. He served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Governors for 15 years, until October 2004 when he retired. Dr. Loop gained an international reputation in coronary artery surgery. During his career as a surgeon, Dr. Loop performed more than 12,000 open-heart operations and is author of 350 papers on all aspects of cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Loop and colleagues at The Cleveland Clinic were responsible for today's widespread use of arterial conduits in coronary artery surgery and innovations in valve repair and techniques in reoperations. Dr. Loop served on editorial boards of numerous periodicals and was Editor of Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He has been a guest lecturer at many cardiology and surgical meetings internationally, and has demonstrated surgical technique in many countries. Among the awards and honors accorded him, Dr. Loop received the American College of Cardiology Cummings Humanitarian Award in 1975, the American Heart Association Citation for International Service in 1980, and the Order of Merit, the highest civilian award given in Brazil in 1982. He chaired the Residency Review Committee for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 1993, and was President of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery 1997, and a Director of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, 1993-1999. From 1999-2002, Dr. Loop served on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC). He has received Honorary Doctor of Science degrees from Cleveland State, St. Louis, and Purdue Universities. During this 15 year tenure as chief executive at The Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Loop selected a new administrative team which reorganized the Clinic and added greatly to its academic enterprise. A new health delivery system was established in Cleveland by acquiring eight Cleveland hospitals and building 14 outpatient clinics. In Florida, new clinics and hospitals were built in Ft. Lauderdale and Naples. The revenues grew from $675 million in 1989 to $3.6 billion in 2004. The Cleveland Clinic is consistently recognized as one of the 10 top hospitals in the United States and honored as one of the best managed medical centers. Beginning in 1990, each year has brought a new record for patient activity and overall academic performance. Dr. Loop retired in October 2004 after serving 15 years as chief executive. Dr. Loop serves on the boards of three public and four private corporations. TOP

John Parrish, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioVascular, Inc.

Mr. Parrish is a founder, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioVascular, Inc. He has founded and been founding CEO of two medical device and four pharmaceutical companies, and has over 30 years of medical industry experience. He was previously President/CEO of Angiosyn, Inc. (acquired by Pfizer), Optobionics Corp. (privately held), Valley Forge Pharmaceuticals (privately held), ISTA Pharmaceuticals (publicly held), Intramed Labs. (publicly held), and Vitalmetrics, Inc. (publicly held). Previously he had served IVAC Corp. and Baxter Healthcare in various management positions. He is a member of the Board of Directors of CardioOptics Corp., Valley Forge Pharmaceuticals, and the Discovery Eye Foundation at University of California, Irvine. He holds a B.S. degree in Biology/Chemistry from Wake Forest University, where he served on the schools Board of Visitors. TOP

Harold Wodlinger, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board for Z-Tech Inc.

Harold Wodlinger is Chairman of the Board of Z-Tech Inc., a breast cancer detection company, and a Director of VisualSonics Inc., a pre-clinical imaging company, and SciSense Inc., a company that manufactures cardiac catheters for pre-clinical research. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Vengrowth Capital Lifesciences Fund and of the Strategic Program Selection Committee of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Dr. Wodlinger acts as a consultant to the Medical Device industry, and in that capacity performs due diligence on behalf of venture capital investors, and performs strategic planning, engineering management, design auditing, and business development on behalf of medical device companies.
